Notes: This set contains cards showing a black film frame border with colorful film scenes. There are 100 cards in the set with common themes of 5 or 10 cards to make up the set. For example, there are 10 different Laurel and Hardy cards, 10 different Abbott and Costello cards, 10 different King Kong cards, 5 different Larry Semon cards, 5 different Frankenstein cards, etc.
This set was issued in more than one way, with different back text. All the Laurel and Hardy cards can be found with regular fronts and with reverse fronts. Some of the coloring is different between the different printings.
Date info: "Fort Apache" and "Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein" were both 1948 releases. So was "Toto Al Giro D'Italia", an Italian film. Most of the other films were westerns or comedies from earlier in the 1940s. However, King Kong was a 1933 release and Larry Semon was an early silent comedian who died in 1928. It's an odd grouping of cards. It is pretty clear that this set was issued in about 1948. The older subjects were probably just popular subjects at the time, probably in re-releases of the old movies.
