Most of the chip companies labelled these Space Coins.
The one exception was Dare which called its set Space Orbit Coins.

As a result, any of the sets resembling the Dare Space Orbit set (the ones that generally come with opaque shells)
are now commonly known as Space Orbit Coins by collectors.
This is to differentiate them from the Space Coins with text on the backs and clear plastic shells that are called
Space Magic Coins by collectors since they bear the words Space Magic on the bottom of each coin.

Space Magic manufactured these coins for the potato chip companies.

To my knowledge, the Space Orbit Coins were first issued in Canada by several chip companies
including Dare, Krun-Chee Potato Chips and Hunters. Hunter's coins are very tough.

The coins are available with the logos of those three chip companies on the back.
But there are coins with nothing on the back except "Made in Canada".

A very similar set was issued in the States by several chip companies including Gordons,
Krun-Chee Corn Chips and Drenks. The Drenks ones are really tough to find.

Most of the U.S.S.R. related coins were replaced by other coins for this U.S. set.
There are ten such variants between the Canadian issued set and the U.S. issued set.
The replacement images were taken from the Space Magic set which indicates
that the Space Magic Coins were issued before the Space Orbit Coins in the United States.

Krun-Chee Potato Chips Space Orbit Coins and the Krun-Chee Corn Chips Space Orbit Coins
are not from the same set.

Not only are there the ten front variations, the shells also come in different mixes of colours.

The Krun-Chee Corn Chip and the Gordons Potato Chips Space Orbit Coins could be considered
part of the same set though since they both came in the same mix of shell colours and both the
Krun-Chee and Gordons name brands were part of the Sunshine Biscuit Co. corporate
umbrella at the time.

I have no doubt that they were issued as part of the same promotion since the coins often
surface in the very same basement/attic discoveries.

I've seen clear backed Space Magic Coins with Nalleys, Schulers, Krun-Chee and Hendricks
Ice Cream written on the back.

Unlabelled Space Magic Coins can also be found. I know of no variants.
