noting this promotion was BEFORE the Gum, Inc. Lone Ranger set of 1940.
His comments refer to the store display, which he also posted.

Here's a two-sided point-of-sale flyer, intended for store owners to tape onto their front windows.

This was for the large Lone Ranger premium pictures, which actually came out in 1938,
before Lone Ranger Chewing Gum cards, which were issued by Gum Inc. in 1940.

Usually, it is taken for granted that premium cards come after the associated
gumcards, as an added feature to pump up sales.

But in this case, these large pictures were available in 1938
(see date on bottom of back text) in exchange for LR chewing gum,
which came in single chews, twisted in a wrapper, without the addition
of any gumcards. (Note the text that talks about Lone Ranger bubble gum . .
nothing about cards.)

Also, see P 107 of the orange Benjamin guide for a look at individual
pieces of LR bubble gum . . . sorta shaped like short pieces of
Turkish Taffy.

Evidently the success of the large pictures convinced Gum Inc. that the
Lone Ranger would be a great topic for a bubblegum card set, which they
followed up on two years later.
