Assorted Standard Bearers of Different Countries - T105 Information: Bob Forbes |
This series shows military men in the representative uniforms of their countries holding their national flags. Issued by the P. Lorillard Co. a few years after the ATC break-up, it is one of the later T-series issues (issued circa 1914-16). The cards were distributed with Zira cigarettes (two different back designs), Nebo cigarettes, Honest Scrap, and Tiger chewing tobacco. Additionally, cards can be found with "Factory No. 21, 5th Dist., N.J." only on the backs but no other advertising. The Tiger brand cards are the scarcest - these cards are slightly narrower (2 1/4" wide) than the standard cards (2 1/2" wide). The Zira and Nebo cards were printed on both thick and thin stock. It is fairly certain that there was a variance in the amounts printed for each country and from anecdotal evidence it appears that around a dozen of the subjects are much scarcer than the most of the others. |
