Notes: An album was issued with this set - two different album covers seen. Two slightly different backs seen for cards from this set. It appears the company that issued this set was a smaller company that was taken over by a bigger company during the card promotion and changed the album a bit and the card backs to indicate the change of address.
Collector Daniel Kumermann sent me an interesting message about these cards, which I pass on here:
I collect everything that comes with and from gum, hence the interest in these cards. They were among the earliest items in my collection. My mother tongue being Czech I can up to a point understand Croatian, or as it was at the time of Yugoslavia called Serbocroatian.
The cards were produced by company that went by the name of Poljoprivredna zadruga. And the address is: Nerezisce, Isle of Brac, Yugoslavia (today's Croatia). The place name has several carons and accents - Nerežišće and the isle should be properly written as Brač. I do not know if your computer will display it. Most of these letters are part of Czech as well and so our computers are adapted accordingly. The gum's name was Favorit and it came in two colors - green and red. They had several other series of cards like for instance space research. I do not know in which color of wrapper the actors cards came. The company also produced gum called Champion with pictures of football (soccer) players.
The text on the back of the cards urges you to buy and collect complete series for which you can obtain an album from your seller and promises an unspecified practical gift if you manage the whole series.
There are some variations in cropping and reverse images that can be found with this set, probably found with the different backs for different printings of this set.
