Fry Film Stars

Note: This set has the same design as the Godfrey Phillips Film Stars set, but the cards are different between the two sets.

Some interesting information has been provided by Richard Minns for this issue as follows:

Cards issued with gummed backs to be stuck onto the promotional sheet on the back of which is a chocolate advert. These may have been a British and overseas issue from the stamp on the sheet (S.A. - South Africa.)

This seems to have been some sort of offer. The sheet I have has been officially stamped over the cards at the corners - presumably to show the offer has been claimed. Interestingly there are two missing cards which have been partially stamped over which suggests the sender didn't complete the set but still claimed and was given a prize. The stamp reads 'G. Berckemeyers & Co, S.A, Lima.'
