Notes: Checklist incomplete. Collector Amit Benyovits bought a complete original box of these cards still in their gum wrappers. There are many oddities with this box of cards. Click the small picture above to view pictures of the box, wrappers, gum, and card.

The box is titled "Texas" and shows artwork of what looks like James Stewart in western garb holding two pistols. Dandy Gum is promininently displayed as the issuer.

The wrappers appear to be for a completely different card set called Flag Parade. The wrappers contain text reading "Made in Nigeria by Niger Biscuit Co. Ltd. ... Under license from Dandy Factories..."

Upon opening a wrapper, there is a stick of yellow gum (not sure if it started yellow or has just aged to that color) along with one trading card of a western subject.

The trading card has the name of the star in English on the left as well as some Arabic writing on the right. Down the top right side of the card, the series number is given as "Series C - Printed in Holland - No 28". It is unknown how many cards are in the set at this time. In a peculiarity, the word "Series" contains an "s" at the end, which is the first time I can remember a Dutch Gum Card ending the word Serie with an s.

In one last oddity, the box was sold to Amit by a seller from the Czech Republic.

One other item I should mention. On one of the collector remembrances (clickable from the front page of this website), collector Andy Ramsubhag from Trinidad and Tobago remembered collecting cards similar to these showing western stars in the 1970s. He remembered that "We had no name for the cards back then and since they were taken from westerns, we simply called them Texas." After seeing this box with the name Texas prominently displayed, it would seem that Andy's name for the series probably came from a similar box.

Thanks to Amit Benyovits for help with this checklist.
