Issuing Company: The United States Shoe Corporation|
Country of Issue: USA
Year of Issue: 1934
Number of Cards in Set:
Issued as insert with what product: Shoes
Notes: Checklist may or may not be complete. Unnumbered. There were ads for these shoes with mentions of the cards running in women's magazines in the 1930s. The price for a pair of shoes in the ads was $6.50 or $6.85. Assuming you could only get a card by buying a pair of shoes, these would be very expensive cards to acquire in 1934, when you could get a baseball card and a piece of gum for 1 cent.
There was an ad featuring Merle Oberon without mention of the cards, but she may be in the set also, though the card is not confirmed at this time.
Date info: The Lyda Roberti ad mentioning the cards was published in the Ladies Home Journal in October 1934, so I'm placing a 1934 date on these cards.
Thanks to Chuck Ross, Bill Oliver, and Mark Hellman for help with this checklist.
