These cards can be identified by the following characteristics:
- There are 8 movie stars on each card, with each movie star in a stamp design
- Each card is mostly red, with the picture area in either black and white tone or blue tone
- There is a copyright line in the middle of the card stating 1929 Exhibit Supply Co Chicago

The following titles may appear on the stamps:

  • STAR PICTURES STAMP - names upper/lower case.
  • STAR STAMP PICTURES - names upper/lower case.
  • STAMP PICTURES - names upper/lower case.
  • No females have been seen on any of the cards. The reason for this might be that women were not usually depicted on postage stamps in the era when these cards were released. In the 1920s, virtually all postage stamps issued in the USA pictured men, so maybe these cards were trying to mirror real stamps in this way.

Each card contains 8 stamps. Each of the stamps on a particular cards are all of the same denomination.

There are two different backs that were used for this set. Most cards are found with a postcard back with a diagonal coupon in the lower left. Sometimes a different back was used that shows the prizes that can be obtained by sending in coupons and instructions for mailing for the prizes. It appears likely that any of the cards can have either back.

These cards are often found cut up into 8 individual stamps.
