Issuing Company: Strand Theatre Country of Issue: USA Year of Issue: 1920 Color/B&W: B&W Number of Cards in Set: Card Size: Issued as insert with what product: Given to patrons of the theater. |
Notes: Checklist may be incomplete. Unnumbered. These cards feature Mack Sennett girls, from his comedy movies. The girls are unidentified on the cards.
These cards mention the film "Yankee Doodle in Berlin." These cards were apparently given out at the promotion and showing of the film at this theatre, with some Mack Sennett girls in attendance. These cards were given out at theatres with back advertising for multiple individual theatres, including Arcade, Baker Theatre, Strand Theatre and probably others. All of those mention "Yankee Doodle in Berlin" on the cards and can all be dated to 1920. There is also another Mack Sennett card set given out at the Mission Theatre in 1919 that does not mention "Yankee Doodle in Berlin," apparently an earlier similar promotion.
Date info: The back of the cards have a date of Monday, May 17, which occurred during 1920 according to the perpetual calendar, dating these cards to that year.
The girls on these cards are unidentified. Click the small picture above to view a picture checklist for this set.
