Jopa Zorro

Issuing Company: Jopa
Country of Issue: Germany (Nuremberg)
Year of Issue: 1952
Color/B&W: Color
Number of cards: 3 series x 25 cards = 75
Card Size: 2 3/8" x 2 3/16" (8 x 6 cm)
Issued as insert with what product: Ice cream

Notes: 3 albums were issued with 25 cards in each album, titled as follows:

Note that Part 1 in the Jopa series was "VI. Olympische Winterspiele in Oslo" (VI. Winter Olympics in Oslo) and has nothing to do with film.

Cards cover two serials made by Republic Pictures:

Note that only the first half of "Zorro's Fighting Legion" is covered by the album.

The serials were shot in black & white, but cards are in color.

1952 is the logical year of issue, due to Ghost of Zorro not being shown in Germany until that year, plus the Oslo Olympics (Album Part 1) were in 1952, and on the back of the albums it says the following: "Gultigkeit der Jopa-Punkte bis 15.11.52" (Jopa points are valid up until 15.11.52).

See also Bunte-Welt-Bilder, where 6 Zorro albums were issued. Jopa series are, however, much rarer.

Thanks to Nick Bolton for help with this checklist.

No checklist, because the 3 albums cover 2 serials.
