Notes: Unnumbered. In 1959, Mobil service stations in Australia issued two small sets of movie star cards featuring stars from two movies that were filmed in Australia. One set includes four cards from the film "On the Beach", filmed in Melbourne in 1959.
According to collector Eric Panther, the rubber stamp of the "Bruce Service Station" on the cards shown would have been one of many petrol stations that sold Mobil petrol. These cards don't come up very often, in fact, these four are the only ones I have ever seen in my over 40 years in the club. I don't know why poor old Fred Astaire missed out, but I am not sure how many other cards Donna Anderson featured on, perhaps this is her "Rookie" card!
The other set is for the film "Summer of the Seventeenth Doll", which was also filmed in Australia in 1959. Only one card is known for that set, a card of Ernest Borgnine, though there may be others.
Thanks to Eric Panther for helping with this checklist.
